So the question becomes, do you give people fish, or teach them to fish? Human psychology has shown us definitively that learning by doing produces the deepest imprint on our memory and behavior. It is far and away the most engaging way to teach, and this kind of interactive learning produces knowledge rather than just information. And knowledge, not information, creates a feeling of ownership...

When I was teaching interactive design, I used to try to explain the concept of wabi-sabi to my students. It was a daunting task, and I’m sure I didn’t do justice to the aesthetic ideal and mindset….

Later, when he had calmed down, he calmly tried to sell me on the idea again,
Son: “But Daddy……” small whimper trails into deeply painful crying, then a full cathartic sob, lasting a good five minutes.
Dad: “Oh. Well, that’s a nice thought. I guess I really don’t want a fart machine though.”
Son: “And we decided we’d give you your own as a present for your 40th birthday!”
Dad: “Oh, that’s interesting…”
“Daddy, Zack has this fart machine and when you push a button it makes this great fart noise!”

I’d like to start this experimental project. assemble a small group of people who want to work on it together. meet a couple times to sort it out. then let it rip.
And as the story changes, it becomes something else - and the ‘else’ in this case, is the piece. An artist as agent, creating a catalyst for changing others lives.
The story will then change. The original romantic screenplay will be altered in digital speed.
They will comment, give advice, take sides, and participate.
A natural story will evolve, and others will get involved.
So you take a set of people and agree to post your relationship discussions and the life discussions that relate to them - on twitter.
the word friend no longer means the same thing.
Somewhere between reality and our ever-growing ways to communicate, there is a place where fact and fiction are blurred.

Science and Art
So. We’ve got it down to a science. We design around the basic understanding of how people interact with things at the level of cognitive psychology. We have grasped the most fleeting and brain-sucking amount of new technology and now handily tuck our mobiles in our pockets on the way to the club. We are in the club. It’s nice here, we’ve got entertainment, video games, friends,...

Very clear tonight. Cassieopiea, Big Dipper, is that Venus? Remembering good times in the backyard with my Dad looking at the stars. Remembering good times with M looking at the stars. And looking at the seaweed skeletons dancing below the water’s surface. Two different times of magic in my life. Same stars. Different life
